A Wide Range of Therapy Services

Physical therapy - Our goal is to help our residents achieve the highest possible level of function and independence. Physical therapy is offered to residents in need of short term care or long term care, seven days a week by a staff of licensed physical therapists. A few highlights of physical therapy programs in our skilled nursing center include: specialized therapeutic exercise, gait training, stair management training, wheelchair seating assessments and mobility training, balance training, safety training, self-care management training, home management training, specialized orthotics, prosthetic training and home assessments.

Occupational therapy - We know how the elderly struggle with daily activities after they have been ill or after surgery. At Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center occupational therapy is individually designed to maximize their independence. Our rehabilitation therapists train residents on the skills that will allow them to lead an independent life when they return home. SNRC occupational therapy services may include the following: education about self-care management, home safety training, how to use adaptive equipment in daily chores and physical exercises to enhance range of motion. Cognitive retraining and acquisition of new homemaking techniques are also offered.

Speech therapy - We offer speech therapy as part of our comprehensive rehabilitation services. Our licensed speech language pathologist makes an initial assessment of a resident’s condition, and develops an individualized care plan to improve swallowing disorders. Our registered dietician develops a nutritional plan that minimizes safety risks. Speech therapy includes language rehabilitation and/or the use of communication strategies.
